Just watched Civil War.

It was decent. It definitely is not "Marvel's Best Movie Yet" as some like to state with every new MCU release. It doesn't surpass Winter Soldier in narrative or pacing and suspense, Avengers, or the first Iron Man. It has some neat moments in it, and Black Panther's arc is nicely developed (and he's a badass). Spider-Man was terrific and there were some cool visuals throughout as well.

The shakey cam and missing frame rate meant to immerse you during the first 15 or 20 minutes of action is awful.  The expressway chase scene, which could've been amazing, was nearly ruined by poor cinematography, missing frames intended to "speed" things up, and shakey cam.  The "Civil War argument" is more balanced than it ever was in the (in hindsight) pretty awful Civil War mini-series from 10 or so years back now.   Zemo, on the other hand, was handled incredibly well - he turns out to be the MCU's most effective villain yet.  The scenes in the car with Mackie and Shaw were incredibly fun!  The retcon involving the Winter Soldier into Iron Man's history was definitely a game-changer, but to be honest it was more of a clever and captivating retcon than any I've ever seen done onto Iron Man, although most involving the character have been awful (i.e., Kang's manipulation, adopted Tony, Tony's brother, etc).

Ultimately I'd describe Winter Soldier as a "great movie", but Civil War as "not a great movie, but a movie with some great moments in it".

I'm still waiting for a comic book movie that's as good as its hyped up to be....This one is probably next in a long line of  disappointments.

I'd say that The Winter Soldier and the first Avengers lived up to the hype.

Hmmm, maybe. Can kind of agree with The Avengers.... But The Dark Knight? Ick. If one of the actors didn't die before it was released, it would be viewed as the cinematographic piece of mediocrity that it truly is. Unlike Batman Begins which gets a quarter of the accolades but is 3 times as good of a film....

There's just too many of these movies. I was looking at the slate Marvel has lined up between now and 2019 and it is just insane, they've got another 10 movies lined up, and that's just the Marvel ones.

And they are rebooting Spider-Man AGAIN.

Bored of all this, but original concepts just don't go down well with the braindead public anymore, who just want to be spoonfed the same thing over and over.

I feel you are being a bit too harsh on The Dark Knight.

I know you are a LOT smarter than the general public, but there are a ton of story lines and movies that people (including me) want movie adaptations for.  They have said the new Spiderman movie will not start with the spider bite scene again and he will already be an established Spider-Man.

I too think that the Dark Knight was really good. The Nolan TDK trilogy was pretty solid all around, though the 3rd had plenty of flaws.

The rebooting of Spider-Man is a result of Sony crashing and burning the franchise a second time around. This time, Disney/Marvel is spear-heading the story.

This year alone, we're getting a bunch.
I felt Deadpool was lots of fun.
I really wanted to love Batman v Superman, but that was a major disappointment, IMO.
Also, a fan of Marvel's Netflix series.

I'm really excited for Civil War, but any time the hype machine is hard at work, it brings an almost-impossible level of pressure for a movie to deliver.

I didn't hate Batman Vs Superman as much as the internet told me I was supposed to.  I don't like how much they half-assed Wonder Woman.

I realize that online communities weren't very nice to BvS but I thought it was well-warranted. I'm a huge Batman fan and was desperate to love this movie. They just crammed too much in. I think Snyder is a great visuals, but story-telling isn't his forte.

Thanks, you're MUCH better at being sarcastic than the general public too. The burn was almost too much to take.

Certainly the best avengers film at this point. It's not a shining example of a Captain America film but it's by and large the best avengers film thus far, so it's a bit of a misnomer in that sense. Tom Holland has a lot of potential as Spider-Man and I look forward to seeing where they go with that. Marisa Tomei as Aunt May is absolutely spectacular.
