Small interview here, but the final questions and answers I find interesting.

STP’s last album, Perdida, sadly seemed to get lost in the shuffle due to Covid and being unable to tour. Would you like to try and revive that album once everything goes back to normal?

“I would love to. But I think just getting it out and making those emotions and everything in the songs was like therapy.

“It was pleasing to just complete those as pieces of music and get them out. I don’t think we were looking to win Grammys. I think it was just a matter of getting that stuff out and getting it off your heart, mind and soul.

“But yeah, it would be great to try to tour that and make that into something. I think people would really enjoy that. I would love to tour that.”

What is up next for STP?

“We’re still trying to figure that out. These are interesting times. The people that are in this business of entertainment are the last to kind of shove off on what we used to be doing.

“I think we’re still trying to figure that out… I think the world is still trying to figure that out. So, we’re kind of at the mercy of the hands of this pandemic and seeing where this all takes us.

“I’m hopeful – to see what’s going to happen here. And hopefully see the light at the end of the tunnel.”

I don't know. So many other bands are talking about new music and getting back in front of an audience but this pretty vague non-answer seems concerning. No live stream of Tiny Music, when the album is turning 25.
No real mention of either shows or studio. (I think the Perdida tour answer is more like a "that could be cool" answer). Hmm.

Or maybe I'm reading into it too much.

Thoughts?

I know with STP you need to go in with low expectations, but I'm really surprised they aren't even talking about a new album... They've had a year and a half to record whatever they want. I guess they're waiting for inspiration, or whatever.

As far as touring, either they're being overly cautious or maybe they're having trouble finding bookings.  After the lockdown there must be a rush of bands scheduling shows...Maybe they are having trouble finding openings at venues they want to play?

Or like I said, maybe just being cautious. They just had their Australian tour canceled, maybe they're not making any commitments until they are sure they can fulfil them. Foo Fighters just announced this morning they had to cancel a show due to Covid, so it's not exactly like we're "in the clear" yet
Grab the hate and drown it out...

All good points.
I guess with STP's track record, you never know what's lurking behind door #3.

I thought at the very least, they'd do a Tiny Music live stream.
And I guess, it's still not too late for that, but I can't help but feel that once again, it was all about the first two albums.

I'll enjoy the reissue, in the meantime.

Just got my super deluxe in the mail today. I haven’t opened the cellophane yet; that’s my treat for tomorrow and I’m super excited about it. As far as Rob’s answers go, yes, it seems pretty vague, but I’m not looking into it a ton. Correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t they have a Sturgis gig in a few weeks? Maybe they’re going to get a feel for the direction they want to go in after that gig. Personally, I was really looking forward to that acoustic tour. Do I think that will ever happen how? Absolutely not. I think they were in that mood in that moment in time. Shit got sideways via circumstances beyond their control, and now that window has closed. My gut feeling is they will move on to something new. Realistically, STP’s reentry into a post pandemic American music scene will probably be either a greatest hits tour or maybe a tour where they play a classic album in its entirety. This is the very point in time where not having Scott in their lineup will hurt them most. Think about it, out of sight, out of mind. They will pretty much be jump-starting their brand in 2021, a far far ways away from 1992, 1994, 1996, 2000, 2001, or even 2008 for that matter. The world has changed so much since they last played a show. Of course the real die hard fans will care, but as far as the masses are concerned, I think if it was an all original lineup they would have an easier time generating interest.

If there’s one thing about this band that’s on their side, it’s the fact that they actually are talented. These are real musicians who have honed their craft; and because of their tremendous talent, can hold their own with anyone on a stage. This isn’t some second rate act who can’t play anything more than their self penned three power chord tune.
