Sober Scott singing "The Man I Didn't Know" solo in 2005. Sounds brilliant. Crazy to see Doug without the huge beard! And skinnier Danny Thompson. No Tommy Black yet and he's sober here...There's parts at the end that really show how had that deep Core-era voice in him still even in 2005 :)

Enjoy:

P.S. There's lots of rare Scott/STP stuff popping up on that youtube channel

Also want to share this solo song/show from November 2012. It's a month before the last real STP performance, but Scott sounds and looks great. Must have been the last true period of sobriety. Here's Barberella (rest of the show is on the same channel):

Or maybe mid-2014 is when his last period of full sobriety ended, when his shows had improved (case in point "Unglued")

Rick Fox though!
When STP had a cookout after filming the video for the Core single "Plush," Weiland made jerk chicken that was "spectacular," Dean raves.

I haven't seen the video for this since 2005. Glad to see it's back up.

Thanks for the Carson link.  I remember staying up late to watch that back in the day

This song is so much more heartbreaking now...
Grab the hate and drown it out...

Watching that "Unglued" video. It's not like he's Scott of 2001 here, slinking his way around the stage, but still so much more animated than he was in the last year.

As has been said before, Jeremy's passing was an immense blow. Not blaming that solely for the last 9 months, (after all the Purple to the Core Tour was pretty brutal) but in these last 9 months, he really deteriorated.

Can't believe it's already been a month since he's gone.

Yea mid to late 2014 he seemed to clean up his act, youtube performances and interviews from that time frame he appears to be with it.

He was obviously drinking heavily again during the March spring tour (the drunken meet n n greet reports) and after Jeremy's sudden death he probably just said fuck it.

It's interesting to psychoanalyze that aspect of it. Something like that can either be a wake up call or a death wish, for Scott it was the latter.
