Very cool article.

Too bad they didn't hit self titled or No 4.  But nice to see SLDD mentioned.  And love his response to Libertad.

RIP Scott.

Still sucks to think you'll never be seen on stage again.

Nice tribute to see.  There haven't been many since he passed ......Billy Corgan, the guys did that Atlanta video commentary which was nice.  But not much else.

Sounds like he wasn't the best band mate, husband, dad, and he torched some bridges along the way but Scott certainly left his mark on this world with his art.

And it was nice to see his catalog was pulling in some decent dough to support his kids.

The Wicked Garden / Re: Your Top 10 favorite STP songs

4 Down - I saw them play this at the Viper Room and it captures a great moment for me.
1 Plush - Speaks for itself
5 ILS - Hard not put in top 10
2 Silvergun - Love this song......magical
8 Crackerman - How many times did they open with this Live?
6 STT - How many times did they close with this Live?
7 Big Empty - Brother bonding moment for me
10 Pops Love Suicide - I love this song.  Underrated
9 Hollywood Bitch - Same as PLS.  Great groove, they just missed on the chorus. But wouldn't change it.
3 Trippin - Hearing Scott sing this Live through the years as he was dodging death was iconic during their Live set.

Sorry not in order.  I ranked them after I listed them out.  Fun thread.

Listening to the demos disc for 1st time.  Chills.  Lots of great stuff.  Cool Dancin Days entry.  But it's all really great.

Cool little article I found too.

I have to add, music is cool but what Scott puts on this is just magical and takes the songs to the stratosphere.  Super talented.

I guess I was sorta Trolling.  Blue, no apology necessary.  Jeff seems like a good dude with solid chops.

I thought the broadcast was a good idea.

I'd be up for listening to a show of the new album front to back.  Maybe like a Storytellers vibe where they explain songs, too.

Does anyone know how many people actually paid for the karaoke show?

It had been a while since Scott wrote a hit coming into ST.  IMO, the Deleos should never of signed on as producers.  What makes them think they would get the best of out Scott.  If they really cared about STP and putting out their best work they should of enlisted BOB.

I'm guessing the decision was purely based on $$$ and they all convinced each other they could do it.

They failed.  They're all responsible.  Kretz, too.

No.4 / Re: NO. 4 TURNS 20

Man, I remember being elated that my favorite band was back. I thought they were done for good when Talk Show was announced.

Looking back now, they literally went away for less than 2 years - which is really nothing. They played a show as late May of 97 and had to have reconvened in the studio prior to the October release in 99.

In those days though, it seemed like forever. Maybe because the Talk Show and 12BB albums pointed more towards a direction of separate ways.

My god, do you make such an excellent point here, especially considering the state of STP 2002-2016.  I remember this period well and every time I would get to Seven Caged Tigers I would think, is this it for STP? Well then came the implosion in 2002 and the 9 year wait between SLDD and S/T.

I am absolutely with both of you guys on this. I had exactly the same feelings during the Tiny Music - No. 4 gap. Exactly.

But at least with the 2002 - 2009 gap we had Velvet Revolver which was so much more..... acceptable? Fulfilling? I definitely wanted more STP, but VR was exciting for me as soon as I heard "Set Me Free".

Loved Set Me Free as an intro to VR

Scott Weiland / Re: Trouble Coping with Scott’s Death
« on: July 27, 2020, 07:29:45 PM »
Sad thread for sure.  Much of what was written resonates pretty loudly for me.

It was his time.  His star shined very bright for a long time but there's rarely a perfect ending for anyone.  Scott was a complicated individual with tons of talent and some very large shortcomings.

Out Of The Chains That Bind You / Re: So, what the hell happened?

There were some rumblings as to the reasons for this in one of the better STP groups on Facebook. Glad to have this place back though. Thank you Rik.

Care to elaborate or point me to source?

Stone Temple Pilots (2010) / Re: Self - Titled... 10 years later....

I think Libertad is much better than this album, and also much better than Contraband, it's got far more of Scott's DNA on it than either Contraband (which is a noisy mess in my opinion) or ST2010.

When I first heard it I thought, we this sounds much more like STP than GnR this time, and that is a good thing.

Didn't like Libertad as much upon it's release, but it's become one of my all-time favorite albums. It's got endlessly listenable tracks on it - She Builds, Mary......

Love the cover art for this album.  Will give it a spin with this endorsement.

Still haven't listened to it.  Doesn't sound like there's much reason from what I'm reading here.

Rik-
Can you be any more specific on why it went down?  Curious to know what happened.  If you can't/prefer not to say that's OK, too.

Glad it's back.

Down is pretty epic here.
