FYI,
For those who haven't gotten it yet.  Scott's new x-mas album will be one of Amazon's Lightning Deals (aka Top Holiday Deals) @ 7pm eastern time tonight only.
Each item usually only has a 2 or 3 hour countdown to it.  But the discounts are usually pretty good, sometimes anywhere from 10 to 50% off.  Catch is they don't release the actual sale price until the item goes on sale.

Just thought I'd share....
Hold me closer.....closer.....let me go!

My STP Concertology:  6/22/01, 10/26/01, 4/21/02, 4/23/02, 5/18/08, 5/26/08, 5/31/08, 8/6/08, 8/8/08, 8/10/08, 7/17/09, 5/18/10, 9/3/10, 9/4/10, 7/25/11, 7/26/11, 9/10/11, 9/1/12, 5/6/18

Has anyone given his holiday album a listen? I've been wanting to but it's just too hard right now. I could only imagine what Scott's family is going through during this holiday season. I actually enjoyed some of the songs he sang on the album. Even some of the lyrics of the Christmas songs he sang are just too painful to hear. Hope some of you are still able to hear those Xmas songs he sang during the holidays to remember him.

I listened to it at work. Under appreciated album. I loved it. The music video was corny but the songs are a good fit for the season.

Some songs are hard to listen to because of the "slurring" quality to some of the vocals. I often wonder how someone didn't convince Scott that some vocals should've been redone.

The version he did of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" in 2006 on The Tonight Show (and later released in 2009) blows away anything on the actual album.  His voice was on top form on that, and while there are good moments on the album, he sounds like a drunk guy singing karaoke most of the time.  My running joke with my Dad the last few years has been giving him the album as a Christmas gift every year, Scott being dead though makes it lose a lot of the humor.

All music seemed to dig it and gave it a pretty good review -

http://www.allmusic.com/album/the-most-wonderful-time-of-the-year-mw0002206077

I've played it every year at Xmas since it was released but haven't this year... It was obvious how much Scott loved Xmas time and it just makes the timing of his death and the situation surrounding it all the more sad 😢

As mentioned previously, immediately before I was notified that Scott had passed away, I had just said to my wife 'you can't tell me this man doesn't have some sort of brain damage'. Got the text right after I finished that sentence.

I hate to say this now that he's gone, but the album was pretty terrible. I do dig O Holy Night, though.

Where was that released?

It was released on Softdrive's website, I believe. It was a version that was recorded at rehearsal for his Leno appearance. But if I recall correctly, that version is also on the final album as well.

The album itself isn't as terrible as people give it credit for. It's cheesy and Scott's clearly drunk in most of the songs, but the same could be said for any Dean Martin Christmas album. As far as Christmas albums go, it's not that bad.

Grab the hate and drown it out...

I know what you're saying, but Scott was capable of so much more. He could have crooned his way through those songs. Some songs sound better. There's no reason why they all couldn't have been well sung. Just my opinion.

I can only assume that Scott intended it to be a little tongue in cheek... He's never released anything else where he's been drunk & slurring, so as crazy as it may sound I can only think it was intentional! It's definitely very odd though and too much on some songs.

Obviously it would have been a better album is he just recorded the whole thing in 06 when he did Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, but the end result wasn't horrible. Just not great.

Dude I love that idea, that is a tradition you need to keep going somehow. In honor of Scott I say you give him a different Scott Weiland related album every Christmas now. Do it in order as they were released from STP to solo to VR etc. If you run out, you could start giving him cassette versions or LP versions, actually I'd love to have the vinyls of them. I think your dad would too lol.

I've never actually listened to it cuz I figured I would cringe and want to cry, but the way you look at it makes sense actually. I mean regardless if Scott was slurring or stuttering he still had his wits about him and his memory and was mostly coherent. No wonder he has that cheesy ass smile in the pictures for it, he had know how weird it was for him to be doing that. It's kind of like a fuck you from Scott, like yeah I know its cheesy but fuck you and Merry Christmas. Most of his music was so serious I guess that was just his way of taking it less serious.

Thanks for the idea here though, I now might actually listen to this album at some holiday in years to come. I have a hard enough time even listening to STP right now.
