I imagine there will be less of a gap between the first single and the album, because I believe they were still working on Butterfly when Meadow came out, where as the new album is reportedly finished... But I think we're more likely to hear the first single after Purple comes out then before.

I think optimistically we could see the album in December, but realistically I think January or February is more likely. Or I could be completely wrong and they release a single tomorrow, and drop the record the last week in September.

I'm more talking about the record label. STP recorded the album and sent out in to be released, now the ball is pretty much in Rhino's court to come up with a release timeline. The fact that the band doesn't seem to have a solid idea when it's coming out shows how little involvement they have in the release schedule.

With Purple's reissue looming, it looks like the acoustic will be released later than what Dean alluded to - in order give each release it's own space. Makes sense. Hope it's sooner than later though.

Sklashboombash, thank you for posting this update. I personally have always loved their slower work, which includes the slower songs on Butterfly (Reds and Blues, The Art of Letting Go, and Thought She'd Be Mine). That being said, I think this album has huge potential, especially for fans of the slower material like myself.

For what it's worth, Dean was also the one who said September of this year.
Take that little piece of info as you will. HAHA!

Jokes aside, I sure hope it's sooner than later. Can't wait to hear what they have cooked up.

But it's a curious thing to have an album in the can for a practically a full year.
Some bands like to record/release where they are artistically in that moment, so I wonder how that factors in to later works, if at all.

It makes sense to ride out the Purple release first. This way you stir up the nostalgia buying from fans who probably fell out of the band a while back. Then, after they've bought Purple (again) they start wondering "what else has this band been doing? Oh look at that, they've got a new album coming out - maybe I'll pick that up in three months..."

When I tried to predict the timing of the Purple 25th announcement I was dead wrong, so I'll play it safe and say we should hear something by Arbor Day

What I got out of it was as you scrolled through each tree image you sort of "chained" the samples together for a longer version of the single - lots of orchestral and then some vocals at the end. Ultimately just a longer sample, but a cool GIF chain nonetheless. They've released the single since this though, so....
