Official Live audio on nugs.net
« on: August 07, 2020, 10:57:31 PM »
Figure I'll start a new thread about live audio shows on the nugs site, since the PPV event is over.

Anyway, they added two new shows today; Harris Park, London, ON 2011 and The Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk, Brooklyn, NY

Unfortunately both shows have pretty close to the same setlists as the first two shows that were posted... But the good news is this is three weeks in a row of shows being added on Friday... So hopefully we'll see this going for a while.

Sorry for the double post, but I finally got around to buying 2010 Minnesota show and HOLY SHIT, everything I said about the 2011 show being the best official release of reunion show is completely wrong. Scott sounds SO MUCH BETTER in this Minnesota show, bordering on SLDD era good, and the setlist includes Dare if You Dare and Cinnnamon.

It's worth every penny, and if you're only going to buy one show off Nugs right now this is probably the one.

I still need to listen to the full 2010 show but I thought the 2011 one sounded a little better. But to me, the new one from July 23, 2011 is absolutely the best reunion-era performance I’ve heard. Just a terrific recording. This is brining back some terrific memories from that time. I hope they keep releasing these.

If they keep releasing shows from summer 2011, maybe we could get Belleville, ON?

I’ll never forget the crowd reaction.  Typical late start, plus humidity and rain had the crowd upset before they took the stage.  After the show, all I could hear around me were people saying how amazing Scott had been.  I never found more than Crackerman on YouTube, and would love to relive that night.

I'm still hoping they release some 2009 shows, especially Reading PA if they have it. Would kill for an SBD FLAC of Seven Caged Tigers from that tour.

Would also be great to see 2008 shows. All in the Suit live would be killer to have.

I am thankful they are releasing live shows at all so I don't want to appear as sounding negative, but I am personally mostly interested in shows from the prime STP years.  I am specifically hoping for something from the 1996-2002 era as we already have good shows from the Purple and Core 25th anniversary releases.

Even though Scott had some good(relatively) shows in the reunion era, I have little interest in revisiting or remembering STP from those days.  I am hoping for something like the New Years Eve 2001 show from Orlando(great setlist), or the full properly mastered Rolling Rock 2001 performance, or maybe a show from the Family Values Tour, anything from those days really.  Perhaps they are saving things like that for future anniversary album releases though.

I'd like to see some older shows, too. But I understand it's a lot more difficult, since those shows would probably be on tape and would need to be transfered to digital before they could be released, where as post-reunion shows were already recorded digitally so they just need to be mixed, then sent to Nugs.

And then, as you said there is the matter of future anniversary releases. I imagine Rolling Rock specifically would be saved for an SLDD release.

That’s exactly how most of the STP shows I saw were. I’ll never forget Scott showing up nearly two hours late in Oklahoma, and a dude behind me was yelling about how he was gonna “go to jail tonight” and try and rush the stage and fight Scott. The moment Scott got on that platform and started doing the windmill with his megaphone at the beginning of Crackerman, he had become Scott’s biggest fan in the state. I’d love to see a mix of older and newer shows. Of the shows I saw in 2011, I would assume Thackerville and Austin are probably the best sounding Scott recordings. Dallas was my favorite show, but he was definitely less sober at that one.

Man, hearing these Jeff shows really makes me think that STP could not have gotten anyone better than they did. Such great performances.

I think he's a legit live performer and has a great voice with vocal strength. But a few examples withstanding I wish he had more compelling vocal-melody writing.  I think they could push it over the top with O'Brien or - and Yes I mean it - Doug Grean helping out to steer the ship towards another seminal STP album.
