the DARE IF YOU DARE part sounds like another song and I can't put my finger on it.  Beatles song maybe

Definitelly this song is very Beatles like, anyway I love it. "Dare to be something, dare to be real. Dare to be more, hope for the better."

Don't know why, but is makes me treat people better, so... good enough. Congratulations to Stp, guess that's what's changing the world and making a difference is all about.

FOr me what makes this song magical is the verses~  Scott's melodies are AMAZING in the verses!

His melodies are what were missing, for example, in the Talk Show Album. I always think about that album with Scott on vocals and making the melodies, would have been a great STP album for that time.

Maybe this is the song? I heard it the other day and immediately thought about DIYD:

On a semi-related note, I read today that "Dare if you dare" was made by Robert DeLeo back during the Talk Show era. I found that interesting. Does that mean Dave Coutts helped shelve a future STP song? Or does that mean they had plans to record other songs as Talk Show? Or was the song just kept hidden away? I found this intriguing because "Dare If You Dare" could be a totally different lyrical piece today.

Thank God they didn't record this song with Talk Show! I wish that all Talk Show songs could receive melodies and vocals from Scott Weiland, that would be fantastic.

DIYD is such a gem.
Just wish the lyrics in the chrous were just a tad bit more creative.
Just a tad bit.

I hate the line “Let the proof be in the puddin’ sugar”...

I hate the line “Let the proof be in the puddin’ sugar”...

It's even worse when you hear it as "let the poopy in the puddin' sugar" because you can't unhear it.

I think Brett is the one I have to thank for that....

I still think "She don't even like you anymore/Ain't no chance she loves you like before/She will even take you to the mall" wins for worst STP lyric ever.
Grab the hate and drown it out...

Worst STP lyrics are "You always were my favorite drug / Even when we used to take drugs".
