No.4, while singular tracks are good listeners, is not an entire cohesive work of art.

Agreed. That's my main beef with the album, along with Pruno and MC5 being two of my least favorite STP tracks off all-time.
Dedicated. Disgusting. Disturbing.

I'm just sittin' on this merry-go-round, and the music is too loud..

I really like everything about No.4, well still not big on MC5.  Need to buy another one as my old one is destoyed and barely plays anymore.

Also the No.4 era was my fav.   Was to young to get the full experience of the first 3.  My first STP show was one in which they opened for RHCP in which they totally killed there hour set and there were so many STP fans there rocking the No.4 shirt, great time

That was the first time I saw them during that tour and they KILLED it. Totally blew RHCP off the stage.

No. 1 for sure. From Down to Atlanta, this CD is amazing all the way through.

My favorite STP album right behind Tiny Penis. I wasn't disappointed at all the first time I heard No 4 as every song on it resonated with me instantly. 1999-2001 was a very exciting and rewarding time to be an STP fan. They were performing Sour Girl on every show that would let them, including The View. Lets not forget VH1 Storytellers either. As others have stated, I think this era was the peak of their live performances.

My favorite STP album right behind Tiny Penis.

May I ask why you call it Tiny Penis?

I rate it like I do all of STP's music, depends on the day/month. I can think of periods of time in my life where every album has been my favourite. When I joined BE Shangri was my fav, so that is what appears next to my name, but really all of it is just fantastic.

No.4 to me represents the struggle between the harder sound they established earlier in their career and the heavily artistic sounds that came from shangri.
