Scott Weiland / People who only criticize Scott
« on: January 30, 2021, 04:34:45 AM »
What do you think of people who overly criticize Scott and say he was just a junkie?

Back in the day, I used to peruse this other forum without giving it credit it was about a major school tragedy and what I thought was to be more about facts and truths were just miserable assholes who hated me and criticized my looks, my education, my jobs, stalked me online from job to job because they were jealous I had something professional going on.

Anyways, I remember one major white trash lady going on and on from the old forum about how Scott was using all these drugs and being scientifically specific about what they were made of. She was saying she wanted Joey Ramone and Joe Strummer to come back and take Scott. (This was somewhat before he died). When I said he was more than just a druggie, she basically said oh, go cry at his later sloppy performances that are now his legacy. She said the other people he toured with were more talented than him. She claimed she dealt with too many cancer patients to care about Scott overdosing and one girl was even just two years old. She said anyone praising him was basically a fool and his music was shit.

I know Scott had issues, but really? Don't complain about someone being on drugs when you and your family probably do them as well if not more.

I don't get this mentality because I know drugs are bad, but I feel no one is really sober in Hollywood, and I think there needs to be more awareness especially with opioid addiction.

Scott Weiland / Layne vs Scott
« on: June 30, 2016, 06:25:09 AM »
I was watching some videos one day that were Alice in Chains related on youtube. I saw a video where Scott was singing "Angry Chair" on stage with the rest of the band. I don't know if anyone's noticed this, or it's just me, but Layne has a lot stans on his videos that seem to be mostly females who get mad about someone dissing Layne 20 years ago. Anyways, some girl commented when Layne died Scott went on KROC or something like that. The deejay told Scott to take care of himself after his interview, don't end up like Layne, etc, and Scott said, "Well, at least I have all my teeth." Is there any truth, or video evidence of him insulting Layne, or is this all the imagination of an obsessed fan?

Another person, a guy commented on the video and said Layne hated STP and bands that were trying to copy Alice in Chains at the time when grunge was at its peak. I get the feeling that Scott and Layne weren't very close, but I never knew there was any major rivalry.

Scott Weiland / Scott Weiland Death Analysis
« on: June 14, 2016, 09:48:24 PM »
This is from the Tony and Don show. I think they mostly talk about wrestling. I think their analysis was pretty spot on.

There's two parts to this.

I agree with most of what the DJs say, but I think "Down" and "Ride the Cliche" are good songs.

Out Of The Chains That Bind You / STP Love
« on: June 11, 2016, 11:22:20 PM »
This probably isn't on the right thread, and it may have been discussed before. See, I was just a kid when STP were in their peak. It wasn't until now when I began reading more articles on Scott and STP that a lot of people were super critical about the band copying Pearl Jam. I never knew about that or heard about that until now reading articles. When you started listening to STP and you said they were your favorite band, what were people's reactions? Was it really negative? I always got the feeling they were the whipping boys of rock or something.

I'm Looking For A New Rock Sensation / Seven Mary Three
« on: June 11, 2016, 11:18:22 PM »
I didn't know who Seven Mary Three was until I began college back ten years ago. I was perusing this one site where all these people were talking about alternative rock groups they didn't really like, or liked in a guilty pleasure way. I wish I could link the article. All I remember is that this guy was revisiting the "Sex Type Thing" video. Kind of like "We all hated STP, but we kinda sorta get why people kinda like them" way. Anyways, I just remember one poster said STP were the rich man's Seven Mary Three. It seems to me that STP developed different sounds on each album whereas 7M3 kind of stayed grunge/Southern rock. I don't even think they tour anymore. They haven't updated their Facebook page since 2012. I own one of their cds, but I haven't listened to it, yet. I think Scott for sure was a better performer and showman than Jason Ross, the singer in 7M3. Any opinions?

Scott Weiland / Jamie and Mary
« on: June 10, 2016, 07:21:50 PM »
Maybe it's just me, but why does everyone seem to pit these two women against each other? I can't even go on AltNation anymore because there's one male poster who hates Mary a little too much, and a female know-it-all poster who treats Jamie like a saint and Mary like she's evil. I feel like those people don't really care about Scott's music, they just want to treat his life like it belongs in "The National Enquirer."

I didn't like Mary's letter in "Rolling Stone." I thought it was too soon, but I don't think she was completely lying. I did read her book, and it made me understand her more as a person instead of disliking her. It wasn't a big Scott bashfest like some people say.

I also don't get the logic that it's okay that Jamie sues for 64,000 and was getting 2,000 a month with a 7% increase each year, but Mary shouldn't be suing. Now, I don't think Mary deserves that in spousal, but people say it was contractual with him and Jamie, but I'm pretty sure there was a contract with Mary, too. If she was asking for too much, why didn't he go to court to get a reduction in child support? I think we know the answer.

I just feel like it's a cop out to blame Mary for all of his issues. I wasn't really old enough, or knew much about how toxic Mary was back in the day other than the clothes burning incident, but I think she get's an unfair wrap. I find Jamie really fake. A previous poster on another thread said it just seemed like Jamie was into the lifestyle, and wanted everyone to know Scott only loved her and only cared about her. Well, she should've been focusing more on his health than how other females felt about him.

Out Of The Chains That Bind You / Will Estes/Brittany Snow
« on: June 10, 2016, 07:00:27 PM »
I'm probably not on the right board to discuss these kinds of things, but is anyone familiar with Will Estes from "Blue Bloods" and Brittany Snow from "Pitch Perfect?" This guy and I were talking about how they were on "American Dreams" together, and we were talking about the future of the actresses and actors on there. I said Will will do a war movie, Brittany may get married and have a baby. He got really angry with me saying that Will is too old to make it in Hollywood, he's like 37, and they're not going to hire someone who was on a cop show for 10 years, and that Brittany is "extremely talented." I don't see all the "talent" she supposedly has. I feel she's just famous for her looks. Will is a great actor, and I've seen him play psychotic like in "Dangerous Attraction," and bad in "Mission Park." He never disappoints. Brittany was in a bunch of mediocre teen flicks. Don't know if anyone has an opinion on either actor...

This guy is usually the kind who's really judgmental in general, and is obsessed with soap operas.
