No.4 / Re: The No. 4 Deluxe Remaster
« on: August 11, 2021, 04:38:57 PM »
I hope we do get one for every album.
I've enjoyed these so far. Wish there were more deep cuts/outtakes but you can only pull from what you have.
If there's one disappointing aspect is that we didn't get a DVD/video with these, but I'm just happy they are doing these. Video can always come later, hopefully.

And I have to say, I didn't expect them to follow through so I'm very grateful we got Tiny Music.
Similar to the full-album live streams, I guess I just thought it would have been Core and Purple and nothing else.

Hopefully, No. 4 and SLDD get the same treatment.

Heck, less likely, but I wonder if there is any leftover Talk Show stuff. Probably not.

...Scott would've hated doing this show and would've probably performed in drag just to piss them off.

Haha. You're so right.

Tiny Music... / Re: Tiny Music... Reissue?!
« on: July 22, 2021, 11:25:24 PM »
I know this was the beginning of their Spring run that year, but i always felt like this felt like a contractual obligation.
Obviously they had missed out on their KISS reunion slot. Tiny Music, by all accounts, was a chore. Talk Show was probably already in the bag, as it comes out a mere 6 months after this. They tour this until May and then, I remember, as a kid, thinking that my favorite band had broken up.

Meanwhile, when you look at this spring tour, and No.4 coming out in late ‘99, it really wasn’t that long of a break but it felt like an eternity, probably due to the fact that Talk Show and 12BB seemed to spell the end of the band, at the time.

Trip down memory lane.

Scott Weiland / Re: A Scott Weiland Biopic Is in the Works

Great article about the upcoming biopic here:

https://metalinjection.net/lists/10-moments-in-scott-weilands-memoir-that-we-hope-end-up-in-his-biopic?fbclid=IwAR3jTA5jJbRPgcNhnoUI6KuBdcqNc-IVkYAdwKWje2XIIgVVCxp5F6eWffY

One of the best written and most detailed Weiland pieces I’ve read online in years, clearly the author of this article is a fan.

Thanks for sharing that. Good read.
I can do without that little Chester and Jeff bashing bit, but a true Scott fan, through and through.

All good points.
I guess with STP's track record, you never know what's lurking behind door #3.

I thought at the very least, they'd do a Tiny Music live stream.
And I guess, it's still not too late for that, but I can't help but feel that once again, it was all about the first two albums.

I'll enjoy the reissue, in the meantime.

I don't know. So many other bands are talking about new music and getting back in front of an audience but this pretty vague non-answer seems concerning. No live stream of Tiny Music, when the album is turning 25.
No real mention of either shows or studio. (I think the Perdida tour answer is more like a "that could be cool" answer). Hmm.

Or maybe I'm reading into it too much.

Thoughts?

Small interview here, but the final questions and answers I find interesting.

STP’s last album, Perdida, sadly seemed to get lost in the shuffle due to Covid and being unable to tour. Would you like to try and revive that album once everything goes back to normal?

“I would love to. But I think just getting it out and making those emotions and everything in the songs was like therapy.

“It was pleasing to just complete those as pieces of music and get them out. I don’t think we were looking to win Grammys. I think it was just a matter of getting that stuff out and getting it off your heart, mind and soul.

“But yeah, it would be great to try to tour that and make that into something. I think people would really enjoy that. I would love to tour that.”

What is up next for STP?

“We’re still trying to figure that out. These are interesting times. The people that are in this business of entertainment are the last to kind of shove off on what we used to be doing.

“I think we’re still trying to figure that out… I think the world is still trying to figure that out. So, we’re kind of at the mercy of the hands of this pandemic and seeing where this all takes us.

“I’m hopeful – to see what’s going to happen here. And hopefully see the light at the end of the tunnel.”

Scott Weiland / Re: A Scott Weiland Biopic Is in the Works

... I remember thinking how amazing a biopic of the life of Tupac Shakur would be until one was finally released and it was AWFUL. It’s another example of where I find myself going back to the film ‘Tupac Resurrection’ which, again, is an official feature length documentary film where he tells his life story in his own words etc. It featured his original music and lots of interviews as MTV helped make it.

The Resurrection doc was very well done, whereas All Eyez On Me was disappointing, so I can see where you're coming from there, but there are some really good music biopics out there. Hope this one lives up.

I hope they focus on him as a person...

I hope so too. For maximum effect though, hope they can get the rest of the band to sign off on music.

Clint's handsome son Scott Eastwood as far as looks would be a really good choice to play another Scott! Agewise, at 35 would probably be able to pull of a believable 25 year old with some make up the 40's Scott, should the film focus on latter years too.

Thinking about Val Kilmer playing Jim Morrison...I believe he was at least 30 or so at the time, playing an early 20's Jim. Makeup works wonders more than ever before.

Scott Weiland / A Scott Weiland Biopic Is in the Works

Scott Weiland’s life is headed to the big screen.

On Monday morning, Dark Pictures and Orian Williams announced they acquired the book rights to the Stone Temple Pilots/Velvet Revolver singer’s Not Dead & Not for Sale memoir and will turn it into a biopic. The film, titled Paper Heart, will be written by Jennifer Erwin.

“It’s an honor to have the trust to tell Scott’s story and the ability to portray the lesser known sides of him – the loving and tender man he was, the high school athlete he was, the melancholy soul he was and the legendary frontman that he will always be,” Erwin said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

“Scott was glamorous, complicated and wounded. His childhood had a big effect on his struggles with addiction,” Dark Pictures’ Anne Beagan told THR in a statement of her own.

Williams said that the film will include previously unreleased Weiland music. David Vigliano, who represents the Weiland estate, said that this “felt right” for a biopic to be made about the singer.

Weiland died at the age of 48 in December 2015 from an accidental overdose.

Purple / Re: STP to perform Purple in full
« on: October 19, 2020, 02:50:16 PM »
I really hope this concert sold well. For the Core show it seemed everyone on this forum, even people who haven't been on in years, logged on to chime in... This concert just had 4 people talking about it. I don't know if that's just because the BE forum is harder for find, or maybe people are just less interested.

I'm not holding out hope for Tiny Music. It's more obscure than Purple, and if Purple can't draw a crowd then there's no way Tiny Music is going to get played.

Maybe they can increase sales by making both shows permanently available on VOD. It would be nice to rewatch these on a whim.

I love these performances. I like that they changed the environment too. The Core performance was great too, and they could've just done the same look and all but this one had a different vibe. That was cool. It's the attention to these little details that make the difference sometimes. I initially had some connection issues (on my smart TV) but then tried it through my Firestick and figured it out.

Fingers crossed for the next one.

Purple / Re: STP to perform Purple in full

I'm looking forward to this. And I really, really hope that they don't stop here.
I have an inkling that it'll be Core and Purple and that's it. I hope they continue. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to get anything at all, but I think this is such a cool thing and while they can't tour, it'd be awesome to give each album this treatment.

It's a chance to give us die-hards the deep-cuts we crave at live shows that rarely get played.

The guys just announced that next Friday 10/16, they're playing Purple in full.

I haven’t listened to Blaster much. I did plenty when it came out and rather enjoyed it, but I haven’t gone back to it.

The band with Joey and Nick is was a solid unit, but clearly things went south even more for Scott when Jeremy died.

These vids are tough to watch.

As I was listening to Julian Sakata's "See?" album, I can't help but hear all those Scott-isms sprinkled throughout the record. I know his album came out in 2008, but some stuff originates a decade earlier, like "Moth".

Do we stand to reason to think that Scott straight up lifted "Moth" and turn it into "Barbarella"?
