Agreed, would've been better if they tightened it up.

Underwhelmed from what over heard from the new disc(the two singles)

I don’t think they’re tightening it up (in terms of shorter songs) on the new record judging from the song lengths on Wikipedia. Most exceed the 5 Minute mark but I guess since there’s only 10 tracks on the album that makes sense. I didn’t have a problem with the songs on Dinosaurs though, I didn’t really feel they overstated their welcome.
I still can’t really get into the 2 singles released from this new album but I’ve pre ordered anyway since I enjoyed the last 2 albums.
Nothing matters again, I didn\'t think we\'d last that long

I love it that they've made a revival work, and that they are carrying on a legacy that really remains true to AIC. I saw them years ago open for Velvet Revolver at, I think, what is now known as the Hollywood Casino Ampitheater in Tinley Park IL and it was a great show.

Based on early impressions, I don't think I'll enjoy this record as much as The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here, it seems like it has more in common with what they were doing on Black Gives Way To Blue. Not a bad thing for those that enjoyed that record more, but I don't fall into that category personally. I'm sure there will still be a few songs that grab me on this new record, "Drone" sounds promising. Regardless of how much I like it, hope it goes over well. They've done a great job of keeping the band alive without becoming a legacy/nostalgia act. Feel like fewer and fewer bands are capable of that now. With so many bands and frontmen from their era gone, it's good to see them still going.

New single: ‘Never Fade’ -
https://youtu.be/bHJ2wfJHIjY

It’s definitely the catchiest of the 3 released so far, I like it but some fans online seem to be saying it’s too ‘poppy’ for their liking, which I find odd, it’s no more ‘poppy’ than songs like ‘Take Her Out’, ‘Voices’ or even ‘No Excuses’. AIC have always made a few catchy tracks like this amongst the dark sludgy songs...

I would say they are a lot more dark and sludgy than they used to be. Dirt and Facelift were dark thematically, but the feel of it was crisp and driving, and with much catchier melodies than they produce these days.

which is why I like them better now! Super sludgy. I've always been an AIC fan, big time, but I prefer when they play slow dirty and sludgy. I'm enjoying them more these days than with Layne. I know that blasphemy to say... I just can't help it. I enjoy the style more now.

Much more like the self-titled album - the one with the dog cover.

Yeah, that is a really sludgy album. It wasn't intended as a criticism anyhow, I think what they do now is great. It's not as obviously aiming for hits, but it's very good music.

Could the cover art be more pathetic? Really? The pyramid/triangle with the eyeball? I'm so sick of seeing that everywhere.
Also, did they do any real research on the "dinosaur" industry? Its just another fabricated industry, the bones are all just plaster manipulated to look like giant reptiles.
Do I listen to their new music? No, way too depressing.

I've seen him spouting similar nonsense before. Mental illness, very sad.

I think Cantrells a conspiracy theoriest?

None of the 3 tunes do anything for me, pretty average,  does not come close to Tripod, as someone mentioned, which fave AIC album.  Still looking forward to hearing it though.

Not sure about that. The title of The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here was deliberately mocking people like stp4, who believe such absurdities. It was intended to be anti religious fundamentalism. The next line is "No problem with faith, just fear".
