According to Doug, the first NFT "single" will be the Scott and Noah collab song "Time Will Tell" which will be released at the end of September.

I read his post about this too. Don’t really understand the whole cryptocoin to buy it thing but really looking forward to the album. He said that will also be called ‘Time Will Tell’.

Allow me to be totally throwback cliche by being negative about something positive, but does this release strike anyone else as weird? The announcement says there will be little press and you have to get it via NFT...? I realize that Noah is involved so I would guess the estate is, too, but this just tingles the Spidey sense a tiny bit.

Yes, the NFT part of this is a total red flag. There are plenty of places that sell music, and all of us are perfectly willing to throw some money towards Scott's kids. Not sure if the NFT means we won't be able to hear it, distribution will be limited... or it will end up like an auction.
The only experience I have in NFT space is digital horses. There are no songs attached.

Something just strikes me as odd. Either it isn't enough quality or quantity to release it commercially or they just think they won't make any money on streaming sites, or at least as much as they would directly to super fans.

I don't understand the NFT thing. Seems like it kind of came out of nowhere and now dingbats are trying to capitalize on the craze by getting other dingbats to buy them.

Like how did a NFT of the first ever tweet by that hipster jackoff from twitter sell for a couple million dollars? What would possibly make it worth anything? You can find a link to the actual tweet or a brazillion screenshots of it? What the actual fuck can you do with a non-fungible token of a useless piece of bits and bytes? Why is fungible such an ugly word? Sounds too much like fungus?

NFT is a function of Blockchain. I can see the music industry gradually moving towards this as a method of digital control. It's a valid technology although it's in the early adopter phase.

I asked Doug on facebook if he could come here and make a post clarifying how this will work for this release.

I noticed that Noah Weiland commented on one of Below Empty’s Instagram posts about this album and in the comment he says that it won’t be an NFT.  So who knows?

I asked Doug and he didn't say anything back which is unlike him so I am willing to bet the album release hit a snag or more work is being done.

I guess....time will tell?

Well, thanks for checking. I'd rather them give a new release the full marketing treatment rather than an overnight release anyway, but I was cautiously optimistic that something was coming soon.


I mean, i know they managed to do it with Cornell (between SG, TotD, Audioslave and solo career), but I wonder how complicated it is to compile stuff released under various labels under one release.
There's so much Scott material sprinkled over the course of a bunch of labels.

My hope is that the delay to this point, and any future delay, was because Mary, Doug, etc. etc. stopped everything because they were not being enablers when Noah was using.

Hopefully, if Noah is truly better and not trying to grift, he will demonstrate he has learned from his mistakes and they can release this album in the Spring.
